Food
This omnivorous fish will readily accept live foods such as worms, crustaceans and brine shrimp. Zebra loaches should also receive some veggie matter to help aid in digestion.
Sexing
The female Zebra Loach will be slightly smaller and fuller in the abdomen while the male will be leaner but larger. Otherwise there are very little features to distinguish between the males and females.
Breeding
Not much is known about breeding the Zebra Loach in captivity.
Lifespan
The Zebra Loach has the potential to live for over 15 years.
Origin
Botia striata is endemic to rivers of Southern India including the Tunga River.
Short Description
The Zebra Loach is a schooling fish which needs to be kept in groups of 5 or more. This fish is highly susceptible to diseases because of their lack of protective scales. The water in the aquarium should be kept very clean in order to prevent diseases.
