Food and feeding
Georgett’s tetras will accept all foods offered. Use a quality flake or small pellets for the staple diet. They will relish treats twice a week of blood worms, daphnia, brine shrimp or white worms.
Origin
South America; Georgett’s tetras are found in Suriname.
Sexing
Difficult to sex but the females tend to be a bit more robust than the males, especially at spawning time.
Breeding
As of yet, there are no reported cases of Georgett’s tetras breeding in the aquarium but in the wild they are believed to follow the same spawning process as other small tetras.
Lifespan
The expected life span for Hyphessobrycon georgettae is 2-3 years.
Short description
Keep this tetra in a well planted tank and with peaceful tank mates. They must be kept in small groups of at least 6 fish. Hyphessobrycon georgettae prefer soft, acidic water but are tolerant of other water parameters. Not as widely seen in the aquarium trade as some of the more common tetras.
