Food and feeding
African leaffish will only accept live foods. Fresh blood worms and small earthworms will be accepted, the trick is that they will only eat foods that are moving about in the tank.
Origin
Africa; African leaffish are to be found in the waterways of Cameroon and Nigeria.
Sexing
African leaffish is extremely difficult to sex. The only real way of telling is that the female will lighten when the pair is spawning.
Breeding
This has not been achieved very often in the aquarium. In the wild they are bubble nest builders and will choose a spawning site that is well planted. If successful in the aquarium, the eggs should hatch after 2-3 days and the fry, once free swimming can be fed on newly hatched brine shrimp.
Lifespan
It is believed that Polycentropsis abbreviata can live from 9-12 years.

It is vital that Polycentropsis abbreviata are kept in soft, acidic water. Plant the tank heavily and add hiding places in the form of bogwood or similar.
