Africa; Rainbowfish is endemic to Madagascar.

Breeding
Provide a well planted tank to provide plenty of spawning areas for Bedotia madagascariensis. The males will display to the females prior to spawning by waving their fins. The eggs will be scattered around the tank and will attach themselves by the means of a sticky thread. Depending on the temperature of the tank, the eggs should hatch after 10 days and the fry should be fed on Infusoria until they are large enough to digest newly hatched brine shrimp.
Lifespan
Rainbowfish can be very short lived, sometimes only a year.
Short description
Like most rainbow fish, they need to be kept in small groups. Bedotia madagascariensis prefer a well planted tank with open swimming spaces.
