Food and feeding
Quality flake or pellets are required by Banjo’s. Algae wafers will supplement its diet, along with treats of blood worms.
Origin
South America; Banjo originates from the Orinoco delta but is found in rivers running from Venezuela down to Brazil.
Sexing
There are no visible differences between the sexes.
Breeding
There are no reported cases of Banjo’s breeding in the aquarium; wild specimens have been found with the female incubating the eggs stuck to her belly.
Lifespan
The expected life span for Aspredo aspredo is 10-15 years.
Short description
In the wild, Banjo fish have been found in brackish waters. They are commonly known as Banjo catfish or eel tailed catfish for obvious reasons. Always provide hiding places in the aquariums for these as they tend to be nocturnal in their habits.
